The University of Talca will award scholarships to two outstanding applicants to participate in the Joint program in Agricultural Economics beginning in October 2012. The scholarships will cover registration fees, monthly expenses, and one Chile – Germany – Chile (or equivalent) plane ticket (tuitions are not covered).

The academic requirements and the process for the application to the Joint PhD program in Agricultural Economics can be found at http://www.uni-goettingen.de/de/103826.html.  Knowledge of Spanish and/or German is an asset, as is a proven record of interest in research on the development of agricultural in Latin America and pertinent interactions with Germany / the European Union.

Applications for scholarships must be sent to the University of Talca, using a form that will be made available by email to interested scholars. To obtain the form and other requisites send an email to mengler@utalca.cl or jppae@utalca.cl.

Deadline for applications is June 30, 2012.

Applications for scholarships will be evaluated by the Academic Committee of the Doctorate program of the Agrarian Science College in Talca and will cover the following criteria:

- Academic performance and publications: 60%

- Research proposal, motivation and letters of recommendation: 40%
