Curriculum in Economics

The curriculum is designed to equip students with strong analytical and quantitative tools to address major problems in theoretical and applied economics, preparing them for a successful career as a professional economist.

The curriculum in Economics allows students to choose between two tracks:

  • Track in Economics: For students interested in using economics and econometric methods to analyze data and formulate/evaluate global and sectorial economic policies, and in conducting theoretical and applied research in economics.
  • Track in Behavioral Economics: For students interested in theoretical and experimental analysis of individual behaviors and institutions, taking into account the effects of psychological, cognitive, emotional, cultural, and social factors.

Students of the curriculum Economics have the opportunity to apply for a Double Degree program offered jointly with the Master in European Economic Studies of the University of Bamberg, Germany, in which (up to five) selected students will spend their second year at the University of Bamberg and earn a double degree.

Curriculum in Development Economics

The curriculum is intended for students who are interested in understanding the economies of less developed countries, and why some countries can grow and reduce poverty, while others cannot. This curriculum covers topics such as policies for sustainable growth, education, global health, food security, and reducing inequality and conflict.

The curriculum provides an ideal foundation for students interested in pursuing a career as a professional development economist in national and international agencies, civil service appointments, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and private sector companies with interests in developing countries. It also prepares students for pursuing a Ph.D. program in Development Economics and related topics at leading universities around the world.

Students of the curriculum Development Economics have the opportunity to apply for a Double Degree program offered jointly with the Master in Development Economics of the University of Göttingen, Germany, in which (up to five) selected students will spend their second year at the University of Göttingen and earn a double degree.
